Two dead from firecracker, stray bullet incidents as Filipinos celebrate New Year 2024

Two persons died due to injuries from firecracker explosion and stray bullets as the nation welcomed 2024 yesterday January 1), the Philippine National Police has reported.

As of 6 am on Monday, the PNP recorded 509 injuries due explosions of various types of firecrackers, mostly illegal;. Another suffered a wound from stray bullet.

The PNP also reported 13 incidents of illegal discharge of firearms hours before the New Year revelry.

In terms of crimes, the PNP reported that the New Year was generally peacefull throughout the country.

However, the Department of Health records indicated that 116 were brought to various hospitals due to firecracker injuries form 6 am of December 31 to 5:59 am of January 1.

The DOH also reported one injury resulting from illegal discharge of firearms.

According to the DOH and the PNP most injuries were caused by explosions of firecrackerslike judas belt, five star, piccolo, goodbye Philippines and plapla.
