MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Audit (COA) is set to conduct a fraud audit on the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)'s questionable use of its ₱6.4 billion Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).
This came after House Assistant Majority Leader and Lanao del Sur representative Ziaur-Rahman' Zia' Alonto Adiong made the call during the committee on public account’s Monday hearing on the alleged misuse of public funds from BARMM’s Office of the Chief Minister.
Adiong had pointed out that “even in the internal auditing policy of the CoA, ₱50 million below can be audited at the regional level (while) at ₱50 million and above, that (would be in) the central office.
"That’s in your internal auditing rules and policies. The ₱50 million and above, CoA central national office will come into the picture and we’re talking of ₱6.4 billion,” the solon added.
Meanwhile, COA chairman Gamaliel Cordoba announced that he will be calling for a meeting with concerned intera-gency committees to tackle and update the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) on proposed amendments in the use of the support funds.
