Contrary to public view that the coronavirus (Covid-9) pandemic is already over, health secretary Teodoro ‘Ted’ Herbosa is encouraging Filipinos to support the health department (DoH)’s vaccination program for protection not only against Dovid-19 but from other viral diseases as well.
Based on a report last July from the World Health Organization (WHO), the coronavirus is still killing around 1,700 people per week around the world, prompting WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to call on at-risk populations to keep up with their vaccination program against the disease.
Meanwhile, local health authorities have denied claims that Singapore supposedly discovered that Covid-19 is causing human death through coagulation in the blood.
“The Singapore Ministry of Health clarified that this information did not originate from them and referenced similar misleading claims that have appeared in other countries,” the DoH said in a statement.
The health department also denied that Covid-19 exists as a bacterium that was exposed to radiation eve as it clarified that studies have shown it is actually caused by the Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 or SARS-CoV-2 virus.
“The DoH advises the public to remain vigilant against misleading Covid-19 information and to seek updates only from legitimate sources and platforms, such as the Department,” it advised the public.
