NAVOTAS SENIORS GET CASH BENEFITS UNDER EXPANDED CENTENARIAN ACT

3/19/25, 7:20 AM

Navotas seniors aged 80, 85, 90, and 95 have received their P10,000 cash incentive under the Expanded Centenarians Act.

An initial batch of 53 senior citizens, who reached these milestone ages between March 17 and December 2024, also benefited from free medical check-ups, medicines, and basic laboratory tests.

According to the National Commission of Senior Citizens, Navotas is the first local government unit (LGU) in Metro Manila to distribute the incentive.

Rep. Toby Tiangco, co-author of the Expanded Centenarian Acts, emphasized the importance of honoring senior citizens.

"Ang ating mga nakatatanda ay nag-alay ng maraming taon ng kanilang buhay para sa kanilang pamilya at komunidad. Nararapat lang na kilalanin at suportahan sila habang sila ay kapiling natin,” Tiangco said.

He also noted that the initiative is more than just financial aid.

"Hindi lang ito tungkol sa pera kundi pagpapakita ng pagpapahalaga at respeto sa ating mga lolo at lola. Ang bawat benepisyo ay isang pasasalamat sa kanilang naging papel sa ating lipunan," he added.

Tiangco reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the lives of senior citizens.

"Patuloy tayong maghahanap ng paraan upang mapabuti ang kanilang buhay at matiyak na sila ay maalagaan sa kanilang katandaan," he said.

Under Republic Act No. 11982, seniors who reach 80, 85, 90, and 95 years old are entitled to P10,000, in addition to the P100,000 incentive for centenarians.
