Julie Ann San Jose, Karylle among awardees in 37th Aliw Awards

LUNETA, Manila — The annual Aliw Awards celebrated its 37th year honoring the best in the local entertainment industry with outstanding individuals and groups being given recognition for their various achievements.
This year's awards, held last Dec. 18 at the Manila Hotel Fiesta Pavilion, saw GMA actress Julie Ann San Jose take home the Entertainer of the Year Award and at the same win the Best Collaboration in a Major Concert award, alongside SB19's Stella for the 'Julie X Stell' concert.
Meantime, 'It's Showtime' host Karylle Tatlonghari received the Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance in 'Little Shop of Horrors'.
Also feted were Kapuso actress Marian Rivera and actor Dingdong Dantes’s eldest daughter Zia who garnered the Best Female Child Performer for RMA Studio Academy's Be Our Guest.
The play 'Maria Makiling' by the Kids Act Philippines earned three awards—Best Ensemble, Best Music Direction and Best Composer for Orignal Music Theater.
'Balete', Tanghalang Pilipino's first play for its 38th season 'Revolt', was given the Best Play, Best Director for a Play and Best Lead Actor in a Play awards.
Veteran theater actress Lea Salonga was also recognized as the Best Female Artist in a Major Concert for Stage, Screen and Everything in Between.
