Hiniling ni dating speaker at kasalukuyang Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez sa Office of the Ombudsman ang pansamantalang pagsuspinde kay Speaker Martin Romualdez at iba pa sa pamunuan ng Mababang Kapulungan dahil sa umanoy falsification of legislative documents at graft and corruption.

Kasama sina Atorni Ferdinand Topacio at Virgilio Garcia at Citizens Crime Watch president Diego Magpantay, naghain ng motion for preventive suspension si Alvarez dahil sa reklamong sa anti-graft body na una na nilang isinampa laban kay Romualdez.

Inakusahan ng apat na ka-alyado ni dating Pangulo Rodrigo Duterte ng pagpapalsipika ng 2025 National Budget Law dahil sa umanong pagkakaroon ng blangko sa Bicameral Conference Report para sa nasabing batas.

Ayon sa kanila, ang mga blangko ay nilagyan ng PHP241 bilyon na halaga ng dagdag sa ilang budget items.

Pinabulaanan na ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ang akusasyon.

Bukod kay Romualdez, itinutulak din ng mga complainants ang preventive suspension nina House Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe ng Zamboanga City; Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co, na natanggal na chairman ng Committee on Appropriations at Marikina City Rep. Stella Quimbo, kasalukuyang chairperson ng nasabing komite.

“Considering their high positions, power and influence, it does not take a superbly imaginative mind to know that respondents will do or cause to be done any and all acts, either directly or through their subordinates/subalterns in office who are all uner their control and influence to suborn witnesses, tamper evidence and perjure testimony to escape penalty,” paliwanag ng mga nagreklamo.

Sinabi din nila na malakas ang ebidensya na nagkasala nga sina Romualdez at ang kanyang mga kasamahan.

“They are borne out clearly and unmistakably by the records in the passage of the GAA 2025. Wherefore, it is most respectfully prayed that an order be issued preventively suspending the respondents until the merits of these cases/chargers are finally resolved,” diin ng grupo ni Alvarez.
