Kasambahay to receive ₱500 wage increase

MANILA, Philippines — Effective this coming January 4, 2025, domestic workers or Kasambahay, in Metro Manila are set to receive a salary increase of ₱500 a month.
This was approved under the new wage order that was issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB)-National Capital Region (NCR).
According to the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC), the NCR wage board issued Wage Order No. NCR-DW-05b that sets the new monthly minimum wage for domestic workers in the metropolis.
“The new minimum wage for kasambahays in the region is at ₱7,000 a month, which is ₱500 higher than the previous rate,” NWPC executive director Maria Crisela Sy announced.
Based on records, kasambahays in Metro Manila are currently receiving a monthly salary of ₱6,500.
“All domestic workers in the NCR are covered by the wage order, regardless of their type of employment, whether live-in or live-out,” Sy noted.
She added that “no exemptions will be allowed” regarding the wage increase.
