A lovelorn senior citizen from Texas, United States has been spending $400 or P22,800 a week on a billboard advertisement in his quest to find a girlfriend.

Al Gilberti, aged 70, erected a 20-foot high billboard in Sweetwater, Texas bearing the message: "Lonely Male Can Relocate Sweetwater," followed by "Seeks Female Marriage Minded, Enjoys Karaoke."

Since putting up the billboard two weeks ago, Al has received over 400 calls and 50 emails, as reported by the New York Post.

However, he said the majority of these inquiries have been from people looking to benefit financially from him.

Despite this, he remains optimistic about finding his future partner soon, stating, "It’s been more inquiries from people that are looking to gain something from me — which I get, I’d probably do the same!"

He added, "People were inquiring, thinking I was someone rich to help with their bills."

Al said he has been single since 2015, and his partner then was 26 years younger.

"That tells you something else too; if the person is younger than me, I don’t really mind," he said.

He also said he was willing to relocate anywhere in the US for the right person.
