SAN JUAN, Puetrto Rico — Philippines’ Predator Player Chezka Centeno was simply out of the game when she faced South Korea’s Seoa Seo, her world title crown, 4-1, 4-1, 1-4 and 4-1.
Only showing her true form on the third rack of their face-off, Centeno sadly lost her reign as world champion, falling to South Korean in the semis of the World Pool association (WPA)’s World 10-Ball Women’s Championships held in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
It was a heartbreaking end for the 25-year-old Pinay cue artist, who was seeking to achieve what no others before her have done—win the annual tournament in back-to-back fashion.
“I may not have retained my title, but finishing in the top 4 is more than I expected and for that, I am truly grateful,” enthused Centeno, who ruled this meet last year in Klagenfurt, Austria.
Despite her victory over the champion, though, the breaks didn’t go Seo’s way as she eventually settled for second after succumbing to eventual champion Kristina Tkach of Russia, 1-4, 4-3, 3-4, 4-3, 4-0.
