Former Pagsanjan town mayor, ex-actress Maita Ejercito dies at 55

Former Pagsanjan Mayor Girlie “Maita” Javier-Ejercito, wife of former Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito, has passed away on Sunday following a brave battle with endometrial cancer.

Herself a former actress like husband ER, the deceased was known under the screen name Maita Sanchez. She was 55.

“My lovely and beautiful wife, our dearly beloved Mayora Girlie “Maita” Javier-Ejercito (April 2, 1969 - NOvemb er 3, 2024) of Pagsanjan, Laguna just passed away due to endometrial cancer at 12:01 AM, November 3, 2024 at SLMC, QC,” said Ejercito in his Facebook post on Sunday (November 3).

The former governor called for “prayers and Mass offerings for the repose of her soul.”

Aside from her husband, Girlie left six children, Eric, Jet, Jerico, Jhulia, Diego and Gabriela.

According to Ejercito wake for Maita starts Monday (November 4) until November 9. Her remains lie at the Ejercito clan ancestral house in Pagsanjan, Laguna.

Maita served as mayor of Pagsanjan for three consecutive terms from 2010 to 2019.
