Bill Clinton, 78, hospitalized due to fever, but now 'in good spirits'

12/28/24, 5:29 AM

Former US President Bill Clinton was admitted to a hospital in Washington two days before Christmas.

The 78-year-old was taken to Georgetown University Medical Center on Monday for "testing and observation" after developing a fever, his deputy chief of staff Angel Urena said on social media platform X.

In an interview with CNN, Urena stated Clinton is hopeful he will be home by Christmas.

"He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving," Urena said of the former president.

Since leaving the White House in 2001, Clinton has faced various health challenges.

In October 2021, he was hospitalized for a blood infection. In 2004, he underwent a quadruple bypass operation after doctors detected signs of extensive heart disease.

Despite these health setbacks, Clinton has remained active, frequently appearing on the recent campaign trail.

His health scares prompted him to make lifestyle changes, including adopting a vegetarian diet, and he has since spoken publicly about his efforts to maintain his well-being.
